Charity Projects
Along with serving new International women coming to Leipzig, the IWC also serves the community of Leipzig. We provide ongoing support to four charities:
Fair for Friends
The Coffee and Chaos meeting of Friday, May 13th was destined to our charity efforts. Our little fair turned out to be an overwhelming success with so many sellers that the "Salon Bach" "platzte aus allen Nähten". We might not have been as big as an oriental bazaar but we sure sounded like one! Let's hope that the outcome was also measurable. A big Thank You to Irma who came up with the idea and organized the event.

Wohnheim für behinderte Kinder & Jugendliche
Here are the Children performing at their Christmas program.
Strassenkinder
3.Frauenhouse - each Christmas and Easter we provide the residents (app.25 women) with gifts as well as sweets to celebrate these holidays. We also collect used clothing and small household items for these women. Any items they cannot use are passed on to other local agencies that can use thrm. They also received a donation of 500 € this Christmas.
4.Kinder und Jugendheim Voelkerfreundschaft - this kinderheim is home for 15-16 children.At Christmas and Easter we supply gifts for children and they treat club members to a party. We also support them with money and other projects. These have included renovation of bedrooms, helping outfit a second kitchen, and renovating the garden and planting new plants. This year they recieved a 1,000 € donation at Christmas.
Each child was given a blanket with their name embroidered on it and a DVD player for thr house.
Currently the children are very much in need of a sturdy storage building for their bicycles (generously donated by DOW a few yeras ago) and supplies for their rabbits.
How does the IWC finance their charities?
Christmas bazaar The annual bazaar holds an auction of member services, and donated items. Members also sell hand crafted items and food.
Donations from members, either household goods and clothes or money.
Dues At the end of each year most of the money left in our account is distributed to our charities.
